Appointment of Chairman and Vice-Chairman

To appoint a Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the Committee for the remainder of the Municipal Year

Minutes:

RESOLVED: That Councillor Riley be appointed Chairman and Councillor Lewis, Vice-Chairman of the Committee for the remainder of the Municipal Year.

To approve the minutes of the meeting of the Committee held on 13 June 2012

Minutes:

RESOLVED: That, subject to the inclusion of Councillor Harmsworth in the list of those present, the minutes of the meeting of the Committee held on 13 June 2012 be taken as read and approved.

 

It was noted that a report on a number of issues raised at the last meeting and, in particular, the issue of indemnity for Members, would be submitted to the next meeting of the Committee in November once legal clarification had been received.

To consider and update the Committee’s Work Programme

Minutes:

The Committee’s work programme for 2012/13 was noted. This would develop as the new Standards regime operated and was kept under review by the Committee.

The New Code of Conduct - Member Training Programme pdf icon PDF 53 KB

To note details of the training programme to be delivered by the Borough Secretary and Head of Democratic Services

Minutes:

The Committee noted details of the proposed training programme for Members and co-opted members about the revised Standards framework adopted by Council on 5 July. The training would be delivered by the Head of Democratic Services and Borough Solicitor and would cover all the key aspects of the new regime with ample time for questions.

Minutes:

This item was discussed in Part II as it contained confidential information as defined in the Local Government (Access to Information) Act 1985.

 

The Committee noted details of the complaints made against Members in the last six months.
