Residents request for the Council to reject A2 Dominion's claim to run the community centre facility at Pembroke Park, Ruislip (known as Enigma Hall) pdf icon PDF 53 KB

Minutes:

Councillors Nick Denys and Becky Haggar attended as Ward Councillors.

Concerns and suggestions from petitioners included the following:

·         That if A2 Dominion were to manage the community centre, it would not meet the needs of the community. This view was founded on residents' experience of A2 Dominion as a landlord and estate manager.

·         That the Council could take on the community centre and then allow Pembroke Park Residents Association to manage it, in the best interests of the Pembroke Park and wider Eastcote community.

Councillor Nick Denys spoke on behalf of Ward Councillors. He felt that the Pembroke Park Residents Association would be able to run the facility well, having gained a large membership from residents with all different types of tenure. He felt that their knowledge of the community would allow them to run the centre better than any other organisation.

The Cabinet Member clarified with officers that residents from outside the Pembroke Park estate could use the facilities. The petitioners explained that of the occupiers of the 400 units on the estate, about half were members of the residents association.

It was resolved that:

-       The Council write to Taylor-Wimpey explaining that it regarded the Pembroke Park Residents Association as a management organisation with respect to the S106 agreement, and suggest that Taylor-Wimpey discuss the lease of the site with the association.
