River flooding

We the undersigned petition Hillingdon Council to ensure that urgent works are carried out on the waterways surrounding Council land north of The Mill in West Drayton, clearing all fallen trees, fly-tipping and pennywort. Furthermore, we ask the Council to commit to a regular maintenance schedule for the area to ensure that the flow is not inhibited in the future, which would contribute to the risk of flooding in the West Drayton area. Doing the above will set the example to other land owners along the waterways and the Environment Agency. In addition to the above, we ask the Council to work in partnership with, and impress onto the relevant officers within the Environment Agency, the urgent requirement to carry out immediate maintenance and regular maintenance thereafter on the waterways, on behalf of residents within our Borough. We ask that the Council convey to the Environment Agency the strength of feeling from residents about the poor upkeep of the River Colne, River Frays, Wraybury River and Bigley Ditch.

As above

On reaching 20 signatures it will be formally considered by the Council and relevant Cabinet Member. Local ward Councillors will also be made aware of the petition. The Council's Democratic Services Team will keep the lead petitioner updated on progress.
