Install a pelican crossing at Rickmansworth Road/Green Lane

We the undersigned petition Hillingdon Council to install a pelican crossing at Rickmansworth Road/Green Lane.

Members of the public travelling towards Northwood Station / Mount Vernon Hospital use the crossing on a daily basis.

The traffic light crossing that is already in place makes it both difficult and dangerous to cross the road and is becoming a daily struggle. As the traffic lights are three-way controlled, with two sets of traffic lights on Rickmansworth Road and another set of traffic lights on Green Lane, it can be difficult to know when to cross.

When it is “safe” to cross, members stop in the middle of the road, where the island is. However, it can be difficult to know if there is any oncoming traffic coming from Green Lane and/or cause any oncoming cars to stop – which, in turn, is quite dangerous.

To make it safer for all pedestrians crossing, I propose a pelican crossing.

On reaching 20 signatures it will be formally considered by the Council and relevant Cabinet Member. Local ward Councillors will also be made aware of the petition. The Council's Democratic Services Team will keep the lead petitioner updated on progress.
