Petition against proposal for 44 Murray Road, 1787/APP/2025/1849

We the undersigned petition Hillingdon Council to Reject the proposal 1787/APP/2025/1849

This petition is a response to the planning application 1787/APP/2025/1849

• Murray Road has seen a lengthy development at No 48 and another so soon and in close proximity is a lot for residents to put up with.

• The planning proposal contains many statements which are simply incorrect or inconsistent between the various documents – e.g. re size of flats, amount of amenity space, loss of green space, status of current property etc.

• With five flats one can expect frequent demand for visitor parking for which there is no provision. The increase in vehicles will contribute to extra noise and pollution. Murray Road is already very congested with street parking, particularly during the school run. Many parents park on Murray Road and then walk through Lingfield Close to reach Northwood College. Murray Road is often used by shoppers to reach Waitrose and as a "rat run" when Maxwell Road is congested. There is a risk that access to 42 Murray Rd will be restricted.

• Built form on the site at 44 Murray Road would increase substantially, both in terms of height and bulk, rising from one storey to three. This will have a significant impact on the light available to rooms at 40 and 42 Murray Road as well as the view from the gardens.

• The development includes removal of the front lawn to provide parking. This garden would be lost as an amenity to future occupants of the proposed development.

• Following recent work to address subsidence at 42 Murray Rd there is real concern that excavation work so close to the property will exacerbate this problem.

• Yet another block of flats further erodes the look and feel of Murray Road and fails to provide family-size houses which the existing property, whilst in need of refurbishment, could provide with outdoor space for children. Furthermore, the excessive provision of flats is in contravention of LBH policy DMH4.

• Yet another Given Hillingdon’s commitment to decarbonisation, the proposal does not include solar panels or heat pumps and will rely on gas for heating.

On reaching 20 signatures it may be considered in conjunction with the relevant live planning application at an upcoming Committee meeting. The Council's Democratic Services Team will be in touch with the lead petitioner to advise and take this petition forward accordingly.
