Request for a Steam Room at Botwell Green Sports and Leisure Centre

We the undersigned petition Hillingdon Council to respectfully request the installation of a steam room alongside the existing sauna facilities at the Botwell Centre.

While we appreciate the availability of a sauna, a steam room provides different and complementary health benefits, including:
Moist heat that supports respiratory health by opening airways and easing congestion;

Skin hydration and deep cleansing through pore opening;

Gentle muscle relaxation suitable for a wider range of members;

Relief for joint stiffness and conditions such as arthritis;

A gentler experience for those who find dry heat too intense;

Saunas offer dry heat, which is excellent for circulation and detoxification, but a steam room provides a different therapeutic experience.

Offering both facilities ensures a more complete health and wellbeing experience for the community.

In addition, having both a sauna and a steam room would:

Enhance the member experience, giving better value for monthly membership fees;

Make the centre more attractive to new members and help retain existing members;

Provide flexibility and improved usage of facilities, allowing members to enjoy a full wellness experience;

Position the centre as a leading health and wellbeing destination in the area

We kindly request that GLL and the local council review the feasibility of installing a steam room at Botwell Green Sports and Leisure Centre to provide these additional benefits for all members.

On reaching 100 signatures it will be formally considered by the Council and relevant Cabinet Member. Democratic Services Team will keep the lead petitioner updated on progress.
