Build a community centre and a fully adapted park in Connaught, UB10 0NW

We the undersigned petition Hillingdon Council to make Connaught Recreation Ground a fully adapted park for children of all needs. We would like more than one token item for a child in a wheelchair; we want the Recreation Ground to be fully adapted so all families can enjoy the park, along with a well adapted community centre with sensory room and soft play, and a fully working kitchen.

There are a lot of special needs schools around the London Borough of Hillingdon, and a lot of families with children with additional needs and wheelchair users. Where are these children? Where are these families? The parks around our area may advise they are “fully adapted”, but normally have just one locked swing or roundabout. All children deserve to play and all families deserve to have somewhere all their family can play, without the worry of where to go. Our community centre will offer support for all families with all abilities: soft play; sensory room; daily events and sessions for all; along with a function hall and cafe for families to enjoy lunch together, as well as a hoist-assisted bathroom with bed to help.

On reaching 20 signatures it will be formally considered by the Council and relevant Cabinet Member. Local ward Councillors will also be made aware of the petition. The Council's Democratic Services Team will keep the lead petitioner updated on progress.
