The proposals are entirely out of keeping with other properties in this private road. There are only two other buildings of multiple dwellings in the private part of Dene Road, both of which are converted manor houses many decades old. The vast majority of properties in the road are detached houses and these proposals would therefore not be in keeping with the existing environment and roadscape. They would be extremely detrimental to the road and not complement the existing properties in any way. The proposed property is also vastly more significant in bulk than the property it would replace and takes up much more space on the plot to the detriment of all other surrounding properties. It would also introduce significantly more traffic onto this private road without pavements, both during construction and afterwards which cannot be acceptable to existing residents. The proposals come alongside existing separate opportunistic proposals to develop 5 and 6 Firs Walk that have now been rejected several times by the Council. The Dene Road Residents Association and Northwood Residents Association therefore object to these proposals in the strongest possible terms, and request that the Council reject this application for its bulk, impact on existing residents and detrimental impact to the existing environment on this private road.
On reaching 20 signatures it may be considered in conjunction with the relevant live planning application at an upcoming Committee meeting. The Council's Democratic Services Team will be in touch with the lead petitioner to advise and take this petition forward accordingly.
