From Monday 17th May Hillingdon council will begin charging users £5 an hour to use tennis courts in the borough that had been free to use until now.
The courts are very popular with children and adults of all ages and are often fully booked. At a time where promoting health and wellbeing is more important than ever, the community should not lose the freedom to use the courts without restriction.
Charging for use will inevitably lead to a decline in users, particularly impacting those who are less fortunate and sadly denying them the opportunity to enjoy a sport that they are otherwise priced out of.
On reaching 20 signatures it will be formally considered by the Council and relevant Cabinet Member. Local ward Councillors will also be made aware of the petition. The Council's Democratic Services Team will keep the lead petitioner updated on progress.
