Stop the sale of Haste Hill and Uxbridge golf courses

We the undersigned petition Hillingdon Council to Stop further council/borough led activity around the sale of Haste Hill and Uxbridge golf courses.

Full disclosure of information around the sale/disposal of these sections of publicly owned greenbelt land should be provided to the public and a formal consultation exercise be held before any further action is taken.

Current proposals have no clear community benefit, nor provide firm assurance around tender processes or the future of the greenbelt spaces.

The members of Hillingdon have the right to understand the information behind this sale and to make their own informed decisions, without influence or prejudice.

Where possible, within the confines of commercially sensitive information, clear statistical and accounting information should be provided, enabling the public to form their own analysis and conclusions.

On reaching 20 signatures it will be formally considered by the Council and relevant Cabinet Member. Local ward Councillors will also be made aware of the petition. The Council's Democratic Services Team will keep the lead petitioner updated on progress.

This ePetition ran from 20/02/2024 to 22/03/2024 and has now finished.

Council response

As part of the Council's decision in November 2023 to dispose and sell these two Golf Courses, the Council was required to publish statutory public notices advising of the disposal, which were issued in January 2024, and these invited any objections to the disposal of the two courses.

Some objections have been received, which now will be considered by the relevant Cabinet Members. Therefore, in accordance with the Council's Petition Scheme, as there is a statutory process for formally objecting to the disposal of the two golf course stated above, this ePetition will be duly considered alongside the objections and the lead petitioner will be updated accordingly.

This ePetition is now valid as it has sufficient signatories for the Council to consider it, and whilst it may continue to run up to 22 March to collect further signatories, this will not prevent it being considered at the appropriate time.

Update 19 March 2024:

Following due consideration of the objections and this ePetition, Cabinet Members have now made a decision on the matter:
