That Cabinet agrees to:

 

  1. The appointment of J D Interiors Limited to undertake the expansion and  refurbishment of the following libraries Ickenham, Kingshill (Charville), OaklandsGate (Northwood) and Yiewsley which combined form part of the phase II libraries modernisation programme.

 

  1. Incorporate the joinery and “fit out” of Botwell Library into the main scheme with the Major Construction Team tendering these elements, (with officers from Planning and Community Services), and supervising them as part of the main project.

 

  1. The release of £1.5 Million allowed for in the capital programme to fund the phase II libraries refurbishment programme, subject to the agreement by the Leader of the Council and Cabinet Member for Finance and Business Services.

 

Reason for decision

 

To progress the ‘roll out’ of the council’s libraries refurbishment programme in order to meet the time table specified in the Council Plan – 2008 – 2010.

 

Alternative Options considered and rejected

 

Not to progress the phase II refurbishment programme. To delay the phase II refurbishment programme.
