Objection to Planning Application 36748/APP/2023/2176 - 10 Oakwood Road, Pinner

We the undersigned petition Hillingdon Council to refuse the current planning application for 10 Oakwood Road, Pinner.

1. The proposed block of flats planned to replace the existing large well-maintained period bungalow, following demolition, will be oversized and incongruous at the junction of Oakwood Road and Ashley Close. It will be detrimental to the established character, and appearance of its surroundings, and will harm the visual amenities of the area. The site's longest elevation lies on Ashley Close. which is similarly all bungalows.
2. The proposed four flats, containing 11 beds, has only 4 parking spaces planned. This is likely to result increased pressure on the limited street parking available, and cause significant congestion; particularly when taking into account visitors driving to the block, This might include friends, family, carers, deliveries and those servicing the block. Parking is already under pressure since Northwood Hills tube, a 15 minute walk away, had its adjoining streets made resident parking only. There is also currently no bus service immediately outside the location, resulting in more car use. Parking on the corners of Ashley Close, a confined cull-d-sac, will limit visibility of cyclists entering and leaving the road.
3. Increased levels of traffic will reduce air quality, and will cause noise nuisance, to the detriment of all current residents and visitors.
4. The development will be overbearing and reduce the privacy currently enjoyed by its immediate neighbours.
5. The planned new driveways in the narrow width entrance road to Ashley Close, will require the road width opposite them to be kept clear, This will likely result in friction between road users and residents alike. The driveways will require paving over of green garden space.

On reaching 20 signatures it may be considered in conjunction with the relevant live planning application at an upcoming Committee meeting. The Council's Democratic Services Team will be in touch with the lead petitioner to advise and take this petition forward accordingly.
