Uxbridge Library objection - Application No. 14805/APP/2024/956

We the undersigned petition Hillingdon Council to object to this application for relocating the Uxbridge library on building accessibility grounds, inadequate space for a comprehensive library stock, insufficient study space and inadequate community support facilities.

This application is objected to because it doesn’t meet the Government requirements as a fully inclusive space, nor does it accommodate the population requirements that have evolved since the 1940’s when this room was used for the same purpose but then relocated due to a lack of space. Government requirements for a library move include the need to ensure it has a capability to meet the future.

In brief; it does not have disabled parking facilities, the access routes do not meet the current building regulations for disabled or physically impaired people, and the proposed space is inadequate to provide the facilities the residents expect and therefore does not meet the requirements of the libraries acts.

On reaching 20 signatures it may be considered in conjunction with the relevant live planning application at an upcoming Committee meeting. The Council's Democratic Services Team will be in touch with the lead petitioner to advise and take this petition forward accordingly.
