Petition for More Public Outdoor Play Spaces for Children in Hayes

We the undersigned petition Hillingdon Council to • Increase the number of free of charge, well-maintained, age-appropriate and inclusive playgrounds in Hayes • Prioritise safe, green and accessible spaces within walking distance of residential areas • Consult with local families, schools and community groups when designing new play areas • Ensure that all outdoor spaces are inclusive of children of all abilities and backgrounds

We, the undersigned residents of Hayes and surrounding areas, are calling on Hillingdon Council to invest in more public outdoor play spaces for children in our community.

As families living in Hayes, we are concerned about the limited number and condition of local playgrounds and green spaces that are safe, inclusive and accessible to all children. Quality outdoor play areas are essential for children’s physical and mental development, social interaction, and overall wellbeing.

With the growing number of families in Hayes, and the increasing number of new residential developments, it is vital that our public infrastructure keeps pace with community needs. At present, many families find themselves having to travel long distances to access suitable play areas — a situation that is neither sustainable nor fair.

Investing in our children’s outdoor spaces is an investment in the future of our community.

We kindly ask the Council to take this matter seriously and to work with local residents to make Hayes a more child-friendly and community-oriented place to live.

On reaching 20 signatures it will be formally considered by the Council and relevant Cabinet Member. Local ward Councillors will also be made aware of the petition. The Council's Democratic Services Team will keep the lead petitioner updated on progress.

This ePetition runs from 23/06/2025 to 23/07/2025.
